Web 3.0 and Information on Demand
- emerging value
Abstract of the talk
The industry and academia are
actively pursuing web 2.0 and social computing initiatives to
deliver new paradigms and additional business value. From dogears to
mashups, and blogs and wikis to advanced searches, and eclipse,
linux, and ODF, the industry is hot with new business models and
paradigm shifts and supporting research initiatives. While this is
on the move, we are seeing new opportunities for leveraging virtual
reality and computational intelligence to move towards web 3.0, the
next generation of capabilities, today. This sets the stage for
leveraging even more value from Information on demand frameworks.
We will focus on desiderata and customer industry scenarios and
discuss technologies that will drive web 3.0. Implications to the
academia, research community and businesses. |

Business Intelligence
and Web Mining
Abstract of the talk
The rapid
e-commerce growth has made both business community and customers face a
new situation. Due to intense competition on the one hand and the
customer's option to choose from several alternatives, the business
community has realized the necessity of intelligent marketing strategies
and relationship management. Web usage mining attempts to discover
useful knowledge from the secondary data obtained from the interactions
of the users with the Web. Web usage mining has become very critical for
effective Web site management, creating adaptive Web sites, business and
support services, personalization, network traffic flow analysis and so
on. This talk presents the important concepts of Web usage mining and
its various practical applications. Further a web usage mining framework
based on some natural computation techniques is presented. Proposed
framework is compared with several clustering techniques like self
organizing maps, fuzzy clustering, ant colony clustering and function
approximation techniques namely artificial neural networks, genetic
programming and fuzzy inference system etc. The results are graphically
illustrated
and the practical significance is discussed in detail.
