Keynote Speakers

Paul Hofmann

Paul Hofmann is VP at SAP Research Americas and China. Prior to joining SAP Research he was Director Global Strategic SCM Initiative EMEA.

Paul headed the development of object-oriented production planning and scheduling software for BASF’s plants in the IT division of BASF in Ludwigshafen, Germany. He headed the team that implemented R/3 at BASF’s Intermediate Division. He was Senior Plant Manager at BASF’s Catalysts Global Business Unit before joining SAP in 2001.

He is the author of numerous publications and books, including a book on SCM and environmental information systems as well as Performance Management and Productivity of Supply Chains.


Paul studied Chemistry and Physics at the University of Vienna and received his PhD in Physics from the Technical University of Darmstadt. He was Researcher and Assistant Professor at famous US and German Universities as Northwestern University, Evanston, IL, USA, Technical University of Munich, Germany and Technical University Darmstadt, Germany.


Owen O’Connor

Owen O’Connor is an accomplished information security professional with over 12 years experience in Ireland and the United States. He recently returned to Ireland from California, where he served as Director of IT Security with an Irish pharmaceutical company, and now runs a specialist consultancy firm. He holds a Masters degree in Forensic Computing from the UK’s Royal Military College of Science and is a frequent speaker on information security issues, focusing primarily on incident response, computer forensics and electronic discovery .

Since 2002 O’Connor has volunteered with the Information Systems Security Association, an international professional body for information security personnel. He is the founder and current vice-president of the Irish chapter of ISSA and also sits on its international board. In this role he developed and launched the ISSA / UCD Irish Cybercrime Survey, a project which is currently being repeated for 2008 and has led to a parallel “Belgian Cybercrime Survey”, recently launched by ISSA Belgium. Outside of ISSA O’Connor is an advisor and board member at UCD’s “Centre for Cybercrime Investigation”, a specialist academic centre which provides masters-level education and training for law enforcement.


Robert Johnson III

Robert E. Johnson III is the President/CEO and co-founder of Cimcor Inc., and the founder of Velocityware. Cimcor Inc., was founded in 1997, is a software development firm that develops unique security software solutions that help organizations achieve and maintain compliance with regulations such as Sarbanes-Oxley, HIPAA, and PCI. For eight years prior to, Cimcor Inc., Robert was Manager of Business Systems for Kvaerner Metals, and Manager of Automation Engineering for Davy McKee Corporation.

Robert has Degrees from Purdue University. He invented and led the development of several patent-pending technologies. As a result of his passion for technology, he has written numerous articles, books contributor, developed several commercial software packages, and has made several television and radio appearances in regard to various information technology and security related topics.

Robert is actively involved in a variety of projects in the technology community. He is currently a board member of the Purdue Technology Centre of Northwest Indiana, a board Member of the Purdue Alumni Association, a committee co-chair for the Good Government Initiative, a member of the Board of Advisers for Westwood College, and a member of the Board of Advisers for Purdue University Calumet’s CIT department, and appointed by the Governor of Indiana to the board of commissioners for State Student Assistance Commission of Indiana (SSACI).

Johnson is the 2005 recipient of the Purdue Alumni Association-Calumet's "Alumni Committed toExcellence Award" for the Department of Computer Information Systems and Information Technology.Cimcor, Inc. has been rated one of the Top 50 diversity owned companies in Indiana for severalconsecutive years. Furthermore, Mr. Johnson was also selected as one of top "20 under 40"entrepreneurs by BusINess Magazine in 2005.

Pete Bramhall

Pete Bramhall is a senior project manager in the Systems Security Laboratory in Hewlett-Packard’s corporate research laboratories in Bristol.

During his 23 years at Hewlett-Packard, Pete has worked as a technical contributor and a manager in a large number of research and development programmes, most of which have been about data protection and security technologies, products and solutions. He has many years' experience working with international partners on joint research and development projects, and has represented Hewlett-Packard and the UK in a variety of international standardization forums.

The main activity of Pete’s group is research into the application of policy management technologies to enhance informational privacy.
